Offering huge flexibility and the power to adapt to meet the needs of rapidly changing environments, FS2 offers unprecedented conversion and frame synchronization power in a 1RU space.

Capable of simultaneously working with two independent streams of HD/SD 10-bit broadcast quality video and two independent groups of multi-channel analog or digital audio, each FS2 video channel supports virtually any input or output: analog component or composite, 3G-SDI, Dual Link (1.485 Gb), fiber and HDMI I/O. A fiber I/O option allows fiber cable runs of up to 10 kilometers to be connected directly to the FS2 without the need for separate fiber to SDI conversion. Each video processing channel can be individually cropped and resized using AJA’s image scaling technology for the best possible quality when incorporating nonstandard image sizes.

FS2 can be used as two separate frame synchronizers/format converters or the two channels can be linked with the internal FS2 keyer to do the work of three or more devices – for example, HD sidebar keying where both the video and background graphics are up-converted and combined.

AJA hardware conversion technology

AJA’s powerful hardware conversion technology ensures the highest image quality for your productions. Key conversion features include:

  • SD/HD up/down-conversion
  • SD/SD aspect ratio conversion
  • HD/HD cross-conversion (720p/1080i)
  • Up/down/cross-conversion with both the input and converted formats on SD/HD SDI outputs (both synchronized)
  • HD cross-conversion with simultaneous down-converted SDI output

FS2 can up or down-convert between HD and SD and cross-convert between HD formats. Additionally, FS2 has full input and output signal routing, allowing any I/O port to be assigned to either processing channel.

Digital and Analog I/O

Capable of simultaneously working with two independent streams of 3G/HD/SD 10-bit broadcast-quality video and two independent groups of 16-channel AES audio, each FS2 video channel supports virtually any input or output: analog component or composite, 3G-SDI, Dual Link (1.485 Gb), Fiber and HDMI I/O.

For audio, FS2 has two audio processors, each supporting 16-Channel AES/EBU digital audio, 16-Channel embedded audio, and 8-Channel balanced analog audio with a variety of controls for maximum flexibility. The output of each processor can be embedded in its respective video processor output (SDI, fiber, or HDMI), or sent to the AES or balanced outputs. For 3G and Dual Link inputs, the audio processors can have access to all 32 channels.

Remote configurationand control

FS units are network ready and support SNMP monitoring and web-based remote control. Units can be connected to any Ethernet network via the built-in 10/100/1000MB Ethernet port, allowing control and configuration of multiple FS units from any web browser on a connected computer. Configurations can be saved and applied to multiple units, ensuring consistency and quick configuration in large installs.

To integrate smoothly with the existing automation of a facility, FS2 can also receive external GPI commands to trigger a variety of functions, from freezing an input source to switching between saved presets.

Fiber I/O option

FS2’s Fiber I/O option allows fiber cable runs of up to 10 kilometers to be connected directly to the FS2 without the need for separate fiber to SDI conversion.

Architecture

Conversion

Take full control of aspect ratio and frame rate conversion with on-screen controls in the Mini-Config software that show you exactly what your source and output will look like and what formats are coming in and going out. Simple menu controls let you quickly choose the proper output for any situation.

Connectivity

ROI utilizes a direct loop through, allowing it to be placed in-line so you still have a connection to an external monitor while extracting to SDI. The reference input ensures the SDI signal out of ROI is locked for use throughout a production or facility.

Audio

ROI accepts 2-channel audio from the 3.5mm analog audio input or embedded 8-channel audio from an HDMI input. The audio source and routing can be selected in the Mini-Config software and is embedded in the SDI output. This allows computer audio to be embedded within the SDI signal for easy, synchronized routing.

Connectivity

The OG-3G-AMD provides a 3G-SDI input and 3G-SDI output with four AES BNC connectors in each direction. OG-3G-AMD automatically detects and configures to the input video standard. AES inputs are sample rate converted (SRC) to 48kHz synchronous to the video input. Audio disembedding is always functional providing four AES outputs. Audio embedding is user selectable, on a channel pair basis, to either embed input AES audio or pass 3G-SDI input audio. Simple user controls using DashBoard software allows channel enabling and mapping.

openGear Compatibility

The openGear standard ensures that AJA cards will be compatible with other openGear products from certified openGear partners. With a growing list of products, openGear is the future of rackframe products.

Buttoned Up

The destination-oriented KUMO CP2 Control Panel offers plug-and-play control of AJA’s complete line of compact KUMO SDI routers.

KUMO CP2 features 80 buttons and enables selection of up to 64 sources and 64 destinations on each of up to four KUMO routers in standalone mode or through a built-in GUI accessible from any web browser on the network.

This affordable control panel is only 1.3 inches deep, easy to install, eliminates the need to use a Shift key on KUMO 1616 and 3232, and is backed by a five-year warranty.

Salvos for simple source to destination mapping

Salvos allow an operator to quickly route a predefined set of crosspoints, connecting specific sources to destinations, at the push of a button. Salvos are easily created by simply setting up the desired routes and saving it to a button in the KUMO router’s Web UI.

Up to eight salvos can be stored in a KUMO router and can be instantly recalled via the KUMO router’s Web UI, GVG Native Protocol over Ethernet, RS-422, and/or the AJA KUMO CP2 Salvo buttons.

 

Remote Router Control

While KUMO routers can be controlled via the built-in web UI, connecting a KUMO CP2 to the network provides a familiar, computer-free solution for router control for all KUMO routers.

KUMO CP2's front panel interface is easily recognized and understood by video engineers, tape operators and editors and provides a fast, tactile interface that can stand up to the rigors of daily use.

For standalone configurations with KUMO control panels, all KUMO routers can be connected together directly using standard RJ45 cables or a network switch, if required. Customize KUMO CP and KUMO CP2 buttons exactly to your needs. Use text labels and colored inserts to identify various sources, destinations and routers for quick and easy operation. To get you started, you can download a lens chip template which can be color-printed and cut to create an insert for each button on the KUMO control panel.

Light-gauge paper or film will be illuminated by the button for easy identification even in the darkest machine room or edit suite.
