Take Local Sports Production to the Next Level
When watching a sporting event live or on a broadcast stream, today’s audiences expect the high production values they see when watching pro teams on network TV. With the P-20HD, adding the magic of instant replay to your workflow has never been more simple and affordable. Using intuitive controls and the integrated color LCD, you can easily cue up replays of important action to let fans relive the moment, either on your streaming feed or live event screens—or both at once.
Record and Replay at the Same Time
The P-20HD records directly to high-capacity SD cards, which are widely available and easy to swap out. And as you cue up and replay clips, the game keeps recording in the background, with no gaps in the action.
The SD card also holds school logos, sponsor graphics, and other still images. Images can be recalled on cue and layered on top of the recorded clips or displayed at full HD resolution.
Add a jingle, music clip, or voiceover file to the SD card and playback on cue to bring excitement to the highlight reels, pump up the crowd or share a sponsor’s message.
*The P-20HD can not import video files.
Plays Well with Others
The P-20HD can be seamlessly inserted into a variety of workflows. Use it on its own, or upstream or downstream of any Roland video switcher. Connect two cameras and switch/composite between sources to capture them for replay. Both HDMI inputs feature built-in scalers, providing worry-free connectivity with nearly any video source.
One Person Operation
A pro sports network broadcast has a dedicated team that handles replay duties. With the P-20HD, a single operator can easily mark, cue, and replay clips while managing other elements of a production. Simply register events as clips with button taps while recording, and then instantly play them back with dedicated panel switches. Version 1.2 USB Keyboard, BOSS footswitch and expression pedal provide you to execute different switcher commands more easily.
Built-In Preview Monitor
With its onboard color display, the P-20HD makes it simple to manage and execute your workflow in real time. In recording view, the screen shows the current video input, plus critical SD card information like recording duration, remaining storage space, and available time. And in playback view, you can display cropped previews of all video clips for live replay or compilation into playlists.
Direct-Access Controls
Filled with single-task hardware controls, the P-20HD provides a hands-on experience that lets you get the job done with zero frustration. Dedicated transport buttons include play, pause, forward, rewind, mark in, and mark out. A jog/shuttle wheel with optical encoding provides precise, fluid control to scrub clips for replay and editing, while the T-bar lets you adjust playback speed. Engaging the Speed Range function provides ultra-fine control, perfect for focusing in on tight action and contested plays.
Create Highlight and Training Reels
After the action’s over, use the media playlist builder to aggregate clips into curated pro videos, ready for distribution and sharing on your favorite platform. Celebrate the best moments of a game on social media, or distribute practice and training sessions to coaches and players for further evaluation.
Superb Audio Quality
The P-20HD features the high-quality sound processing that Roland is famous for. Stereo audio I/O is supported via embedded HDMI and analog RCA jacks, and there’s a convenient headphones jack for signal monitoring. Onboard EQ, limiter, and delay effects are also available to enhance the sound and eliminate audio and video sync issues.
Universal File Compatibility
The P-20HD records natively in H.264*, one of the most universally supported file formats available. H.264 maintains high quality even at low bit rates, providing excellent video at reduced file sizes. All of the most popular online video platforms accept H.264 format, letting you upload files created on the P-20HD with no conversion steps in-between. Version 1.2 The P-20HD exports projects and clips in MP4 file format.
*For maximum recording stability, the P-20HD automatically divides the recording file every three minutes.
*The recording times listed above are approximate. They may differ depending on the condition of the card. If some still or audio files are imported, the total recording time may be less than these listed times. *Up to 12 hours of video can be recorded per project.
Visually Engage With Fans
Draw lines or diagram the trajectory of the action to help fans analyze the play and help make commentary easier to understand. Draw with various colors, and shapes, even control the playback speed of the video.
Beginning with version 1.10, real-time annotation over video is economical, and simple with the P-20HD and a connected Wacom Tablet*.
*1 Compatible pen tablet models are HERE
*2 P-20HD can not record the annotation itself
A Winning Workflow Combination
Pairing the P-20HD with the advanced Roland V-60HD* video switcher creates a complete broadcast switching and playback solution that’s ready to handle most any local production. Using one of the V-60HD’s HDMI outputs, you can route any input source—including SDI—to the P-20HD for recording and instant replay. Version 1.2 Replaying the current clip of the P-20HD and switching input of the V-60HD synchronizes via RS-232.

Transition to File Based Workflows
For video facilities transitioning from tape to file based workflows for recording and playback, Ki Pro Rack offers high quality, 'ready-to-edit' file capture, designed to get material from source to editorial as quickly as possible.
With a wealth of professional connections, Ki Pro Rack will fit right into your existing cabling and routing system and record 10-bit Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHD files direct to removable hard disk or SSD Storage Modules, eliminating the need for time-consuming logging and capturing. The files can be used in most editing systems without the need for additional transcoding or importing processes.
Unify Formats -Speed Workflows
AJA's high quality up, down, cross-conversion makes it easy to unify SD, 720p, and 1080i and create a single desired format for your project. The multitude of video and audio connections such as SDI, HDMI and analog make integrating Ki Pro Rack with other production equipment easy.
RS-422 Control
RS-422 control allows Ki Pro Rack to integrate easily with supported editing systems and external controllers allowing it to fulfill several of the functions of a traditional VTR. Supported NLEs can even perform assemble edits directly to the Ki Pro Rack.
Ki Pro Rack’s RS-422 control can also be used to link a traditional VTR with Ki Pro Rack for direct editing control. Use the editing controls on properly equipped VTRs to control Ki Pro Rack for machine to machine transfer of video and audio. This allows tape footage to be captured directly as files on Ki Pro Rack without the need for a separate edit controller.
10-bit, Full Raster Recording
Big on quality - but not on file size. Recording 10-bit, full raster files, Ki Pro Rack gives you high quality images that easily stand up to post processing requirements - and client scrutiny.
Compared to 8-bit recording devices, 10-bit 4:2:2 recording (when supported by the codec) provides better quantization, giving a superior representation of the original scene and allowing for more flexibility in postproduction when adjusting color and balance.
By utilizing efficient ProRes and DNxHD codecs, file sizes are kept in check so you won't need to blow your production budget on extra storage.
Reliable Storage Media
Ki Pro Rack captures directly to reliable AJA KiStor media. KiStor media are available as HDDs or SSDs in a variety of capacities to best suit the demands of your production environment. KiStor modules also feature built-in USB 3.0 connectivity for direct connection to your editing system using standard interfaces.
Utilizing the rollover recording capability with the dual media drive bays, recording can start on one media module and seamlessly continue onto the second module once the first has reached capacity. This makes Ki Pro Rack ideal for long form recording needs while maintaining incredibly image high quality.
Familiar Controlsand Operation
Anyone familiar with the operation of a tape deck will feel immediately comfortable when working with Ki Pro Rack.
Just like a traditional tape deck, Ki Pro Rack features straightforward and dedicated transport buttons - record, play, stop, rewind, fast forward - making the device easy to operate with minimal training time. The current status of the system and key configuration information is clearly displayed on the built-in screen. Additional operational information can be found in the STATUS menu which can be accessed even when recording or playing back.
The Ki Pro Rack operating system offers users a flat menu structure that is easy to navigate with menu parameters presented in clear and understandable language.
Professional Connections
The video and audio connections on the rear panel of the Ki Pro Rack offer the same standard connectors found on traditional tape decks, allowing Ki Pro Rack to integrate easily with your current cabling and routing. The rear connections include SDI, HDMI, component analog, AES and analog XLR balanced audio, LTC, RS-422 and LAN.
Ethernet File Transfer
Utilizing the LAN network functionality, media can be copied to and from the Ki Pro Rack over the Ethernet connection. This allows for fast file transfers without the need to physically remove the media from the Ki Pro Rack, which can be especially useful in larger facilities and cuts down dramatically on the number of people that have to enter the machine room, minimizing the risk of unintentional interference with equipment.
Remote Configuration and Operation
In a truck or a machine room, Ki Pro Rack is equipped for advanced remote control and configuration. With a standard Ethernet LAN connection to a host computer and any web browser, all Ki Pro Rack parameter settings, clip selection and transport controls can be controlled; no additional or special software installation is required on the host computer. Multiple Ki Pro Rack units can even be controlled from a single web interface making Ki Pro Rack an ideal solution for multi-camera recordings.
AJA DataCalc
AJA DataCalc is a mobile OS application for iOS, iPadOS and Android, offering two modes for storage and time calculations based upon raster, frame rate and codec choices.
DataCalc - Calculate your storage needs before capture.
TimeCalc – Calculate the run time of materials you can capture by storage size.
Share results with your team straight from the application.
Industry Leading Support
AJA’s technical support is recognized as among the best in the industry and is available to all AJA customers. If you need assistance with any aspect of your Ki Pro installation, configuration, operation or encounter any technical issue, will work with you to get up and running.
Ki Pro products are covered by a generous three year warranty. Please see the individual Product’s Manual for additional specifics around warranty conditions for the product itself.
Ki Pro Rack lets you record edit-friendly HD ProRes files directly to removable KiStor Media. Once removed from the Ki Pro Rack, the KiStor can be inserted in the AJA KiStor Dock which connects directly to your computer via Thunderbolt™ or USB3, allowing you to rapidly transfer ProRes files that are ready for use immediately in your non-linear editing system.
KiStor Modules
KiStor Storage Modules use thoroughly tested media and are backed by a 1-year warranty. KiStor Storage Modules are also engineered with the rigors of production use in mind; not only are robust housings used for the media, but connectors rated for multiple insertions and removals are used, unlike bare HDD or SSD connectors that are not engineered for repeated use. Additionally, KiStor modules can be formatted in the device making it a true stand alone recorder; connecting the media to a host computer to format media is not necessary.

PAK Media is available in a variety of capacities to best suit the demands of your production. PAK 2000 and PAK 1000 are the perfect companions for Ki Pro Ultra 12G offering 2TB or 1TB of fast SSD media for up to 4K recording at 60p in ProRes HQ. PAK 512 and PAK 256 models offer equal performance in smaller capacities when needed. The twin media drive bays on the Ki Pro Ultra 12G allow extremely fast media changes and rollover recording even for multi-channel recording, which allows a recording to start on one media module and seamlessly continue onto the second module once the first has reached capacity. PAK Media may also be used with the optional PAK Dock Pro which features a USB 3.2 Gen 2 bus-powered connection for lightning fast data transfers from and to your desktop or laptop. exFAT and HFS+ Support
Ki Pro Ultra 12G allows you to use the file system that suits your needs. Infinite Recordand Rollover, Even inMulti-Channel ModeLosing one or even several feeds during a multi-channel shoot can cause major sync issues during the editing process that can be lengthy to resolve, if they can be resolved at all. But Ki Pro Ultra 12G is designed so that as soon as a loss in signal is detected on any of the inputs, a color bars frame with the legend “Loss Of Signal” is recorded until the input is restored or the shoot ends. In this way, all multi-channel clips have the same timecode duration and will align perfectly within any NLE. The editor then just simply cuts away from any recording that lost signal, without any heavy lifting to insert frames, or adjust audio to compensate. This function works with each input to Ki Pro Ultra 12G and will even function in Rollover mode, meaning that a loss of signal that spans separate media will pose no issues in editing, the time code of each file recorded being equal. Forced Rollover support allows users to force a rollover recording to the second PAK port at any point, allowing quick extraction of the first PAK drive for fast transfer to editing environments, playout servers and more, while recording continues. Infinite Record allows continuous recording and rollover from PAK Drive to PAK Drive for a variety of needs including multi-day sporting events, conferences, security needs and much more. Ki ProtectKi Pro Ultra 12G includes Ki Protect, a feature that helps to ensure data integrity if a media drive is accidentally removed or loses power during recording. The Ki Protect feature automatically pre-allocates recording space on the media drive for video, audio and timecode when the record button is pressed. While recording, the file header is then continuously updated every time new data is written. That way, the only loss that should be incurred is the last few frames that were in transit to the media drive to be recorded when the operation was interrupted. Frames that are already recorded will be preserved and are recoverable, providing greater peace of mind on set and in the studio, essential for multi-channel recording. High Resolution LCD with Onscreen Intuitive UIKi Pro Ultra 12G features a beautiful high resolution HD display for pristine monitoring of your material and serves as your interface to Ki Pro's familiar and intuitive menu system. The detailed overlay UI includes onscreen keyboard functionality and a clear view of the powerful yet simple to operate UI, all pristinely presented on the 4.8” 720p LCD display. The large LCD provides detailed playback and monitoring perfect for onset use, the OB truck, helicopter or studio and it’s transparent menu overlays can be set at just the level the user prefers. Ki Pro Ultra 12G offers control over brightness of the display for flexible control to suit your working environment. 4K and HD Monitoring
Ki Pro Ultra 12G provides full resolution outputs for 4K, UltraHD and HD over 12G-SDI, 3G-SDI, FIber and HDMI, including the latest affordable UltraHD monitors using HDMI for on-set quality checks. During Multi-Channel recording, the user can select to send either a single source or a Multi-Matrix of all four sources to the 3G-SDI monitor and HDMI outputs in any combination desired.
